Can't turn off sound

Hi. I have an HP workstation running Win 2000 NT. Whenever
I get a dialog box to confirm something in my
applications, such as Do You Want to Save etc. etc., my
computer makes a loud beeping noise. As you can imagine,
this happens ALL DAY!!! Aggghghghghghgh. I tried muting
everthing in the Volume Control dialog box but even that
didn't work. Any thoughts? THANKS!!

Try looking in the bios of the pc, maybe under pc speaker??

Control Panel/Sounds and Multimedia/set appropriate
event to 'None'.

I disabled my speaker and am still get the sound. i'm
going to smash this computer through my window :)

Now, *that* is weird. Where is the sound coming from?

This is the system speaker. Has nothing to do with the op sys. I removed mine long ago. It's in your box a little speaker. Used for POST messages and the like.
 
Mike, first figure out where the sound is coming from.
"Workstation tower" doesn't tell us anything. Is it coming
from a sound card? From a speaker on the motherboard?
