Can't Synchronize Time

Hi

Using Windows XP Pro SP2 with all patches.

I have recently realised that I can not synchronise the time anymore. When
I click on Update Now in the Date and TIme Properties/Internet Time I get
an error:

An error occurred while Windows was synchronising with time.nist.gov

This error also occurs for the standard time.windows.com server. I can ping
both of them with no problems.

Last time that I looked at this was around the time that the modified
daylight time patch was installed back in Feb I think, although I can't say
whether the two are related.

Time synchronisation works neither on my network at work (where I have no
idea what the firewall settings are) nor at home, where nothing has changed
in the NAT router setup.

Thanks.

Try changing it to time-a.nist.gov or time-b.nist.gov then update. Both work
good. Good Luck,

it is true that a number of shareware programs can update the time in
windows. Which is all to the shame of microsoft, because windows XP cannot
do so on its own. No, I have not tried every server known to man (there are
a lot of them out there). The point is that windows is supposed to work
with the servers it allows you to chose. (though I have tried to others
with no success). So the question is, will microsoft fix the thing or will
we have to upgrade to Vista just to know what time it is...
