Hi,

I'm using Windows Vista RTM & Windows Mobile Device Center Beta 3. I got a
new i-teq X-BOND (Windows Mobile 5.0, ROM v1.12.24) and set up a sync
partnership with WMDC. It never sync'd even once.

All I get is the following error:

On the device:
ActiveSync encountered an error on the desktop. Support Code: 0x85010014

On the desktop:
Error:
View status%ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop.

I tried deleting and recreating the partnership on both the device and the
PC. I'm running out of ideas - has anybody faced the same issue before?

I was previously using an i-mate PDA2k, and it sync'd well with Vista
(except that MS Money data didn't synchronize).

Disconnect the device.
Uninstall the MDC B3 software.
Reboot.
Reinstall the MDC B3 software.
Reboot.
Connect the device.

Follow the above steps exactly - no cheating! - and it should sort out your
problems. If not, wander on back. :)

I think you can only sync email from one Outlook instance, so if both are
configured to use Outlook to sync email you'll need to pick one or the other
to sync email, everything else should be okay.

I am having the same issue and the suggestion unfortunately did not work.

I have installed the Windows Mobile Device Center application (Beta 3) on
both my laptop and desktop. My laptop synced without issue, however, my
desktop throws the following information in the log:

Sync started with Joshua's Smartphone
Sync failed with Joshua's Smartphone
View status%ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop.

I am running Outlook 2007 on both PCs.

Still no go...I am prompted for my PPC PIN so I don't think the Firewall is
the issue. Its been on the automatic (recommended) settings from the
beginning.

Any other ideas? I am at a loss as to why the sync worked on my laptop but
not my desktop.

Thank you!

Yesterday, I downloaded (upgraded to) the latest Windows Vista Upgrade
Advisor, installed and ran it. It came back with the following message
regarding ActiveSync 4.2: This program has compatibility issues and will not
work in Windows Vista. For more information, go to the vendor's website.

Of coarse, we all know who the vendor is.

Regarding upgrading from XP to Vista, this is a deal killer for me.

Richard

It's not that Vista doesn't support syncing w/PPCs, it's because
Activesync's been replaced with the "WMDC" (Windows Mobile Device Center.)

Hey folks,

I am using the realeased version of WMDC 6 and Vista RTM 6000 Ultimate. I
have 3 WM devices at home:

1 WM5 iMate XDA
1 WM5 Qtek9100 Vodafone (HTC Wizard)
1 WM6 MB release (HTC Wizard)

Here is the scenario:
... The XDA was working just fine. Never had a problem with synching.
... The WM6 started working after I went to Settings/Connections/USB to PC
and unchecked "Enable Advanced Network Functionality"
... The Qtek was not working at all. Never got to be recognized by WMDC 6.
This is what was driving me crazy!

Well, I don't know what is going on that made the Qtek different from the
other ones in terms of "behind the stage" coding/working, but after following
the wisdom words from Charles Basile at "
http://www.tabletquestions.com/pocket-pc-general/32794-windows-mobile-device-center-vista.html " (please see transcript below) I really got it to work.

Well, one thing I had to do on top of Charles' recommendation was to
manually go to the OneCare settings/Firewall/Firewall Connection Tool and
check the option referring to ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center.

-----TRANSCRIPTION------------------
To resolve, I removed Live Care's "Automatically change Firewall protection
level..." AND I set the Windows Firewall to the Automatic (Recommended)
setting. I also clicked on the Firewall conntection tool and under "Select
the connections you want rhe Firewall Connection Tool to set up for you...:
I checked the "ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center".

The device was FINALLY recognised and Windows Mobile Device Center is now
fully synced with my PDA.
-----------EOT--------------

I know of other people that successfully got their Qteks to work after
following these intructions.

Thease are my two cents and I hope they buy you some sleep.

Care,

I am one of those who got his Qtek 9000 finally recognized by WMDC after
following your instrucions.

Thank you.

I had lots of problems syncing with my Treo. I have found it works ONLY when
I am on the internet. This is a problem for me because I am not on line very
much. See if it works for you.

It only works if you are connected to the internet at the time. Don't know
why but I get the messages when I am not connected and it works fine if I am.
It is a problem for me because I work on a laptop and usually don't have
access.
