The first time ever that I was not able to turn of my computer. The only way
I can do it, is pushing the on/off button. Isn't there a secret command. I
tried google, and used about everything that I can see. I installed nothing
new, but I did a Trend Micro, and probably deleted something that was
suppose to be on the computer. I tried a cmd shutdown -r and all the other
little commands. The 3 finger salute gives me the middle finger back. I
appreciate any help I can get........using Win xp Home..........without any
log-on or password, I don't have a log off button that I can
push.............Opa Peter

FWI - during a Windows session where I've used one application program
after another including restarting one or more app. programs multiple times,
once in a while my XP Home hangs on shut-down.

I've always put it down to one or more ill behaved application programs,
because on the whole my XP platform is very robust.

Many thanks Richard, your help was appreciated. Especially the URL, it wound
up in my Favorites. I can't believe it, I found the answer myself. I did a
Control Alt Del, went to the owner tab, and logged off there, the rest was
just normal shutdown. Once shut down, and the subsequent start-up and
shutdown was normal. I did remember what you said Richard, I did open a
bunch of programs, and used them, and shut them down again, at least that is
what I thought. 2 of them were older programs. FormFlow from Symantec. The
other one I can't remember. Thanks again Richard, and the rest of the group
here is great.............Peter
