I have 3 computers on windows xp professional and ion windows xp. I have
enabled file sharing on all and it doesn't seem to be working on any of them.
I set up a network that they are all on. I am sharing a printer and that
works on all. I have a feeling I missed something stupid. Also, can files and
folders be shared between xp and professional xp?

Marie,

Yes, you can share between XP Home and XP Pro. You'll have to use Guest for
access to the XP Home computer, so best make it consistent and use Guest on the
XP Pro computer too.

Is Guest enabled, for network access, on each computer?

Maybe do more basic diagnosis. Look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net
config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
