I had my mirror drives running for 1 year. Then It began
to break appart.
Now when I try to set it up, it will go about 72% and fail
I called segate and rain many of there test on the drive.
All of them passed. The tech told me that the problem is
with in windows and hee coulndt help any longer.
I move the drive to a diffrent cable position and the
problem follows.
This is the error I get in Disk Manager.
"Operation aborted due to disk I/O Error.
Please help.

Couldnt be. Why would one disk work and the otheron fail.
When I made the drive a basic and a drive letter, I had no
problems writing to it. I put it on a different cable
andthe problem still was there.
I Upgrade to a dynamic, tried to setup a mirror and it
failed.

Fraid I no little about raid controllers, it would seem to me that if yr
mirror is failing it may be the controller is failing - I would guess that
as you write to the primary disk the controller mirrors to the secondary and
if this fails you get an error. It doesnt neccessarily mean a hd problem.
Is there no Raid utility, on boot up, that allows you to check its function?
You say you made the drive a basic, did you try the second drive as a slave?
to see if you can then access it/write to it as a slave?
I recently had a prob (total sys crash, unrecoverable without format) The IBM
disk utility reported a hd failure - shock damage - But when I installed to
a new hd, placed the 'bad' as slave I was able to format it and found no
errors with it.
