Does your connection to talktalk.net go through another internet provider's
equipment before it gets there? If so, connections to port 25 are often
blocked to cause trouble for spammers.

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of the common ones,
such as Norton, McAfee, and Trend, cause various problems in Windows
Mail, although seldom immediately.

Do you get any error messages mentioning the POP3 protocol? If so,
showing the full error message here will get help for you faster.

The error message you included pertains to sending only.

I am concerned about the part that says "SSL: Yes."
The SSL option is seldom used with port 25.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select the talktalk account, Properties,
Advanced. Uncheck the box for "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)."

If you also get a receive error, please post it here.

If you get any error messages when you try, show us the full error
messages.

Who's your email provider (usually also your internet provider)?

Whay if any antivirus programs do you have on your machine?

What happens when you send an email to yourself?
Is there an error message when you check your mail?
