Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving,
and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting
changes and has even been responsible for loss of messages. Your
up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For
more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the
program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the
option arises.

Turned off and problem still exists. I get the response on Windows Mail POP and on a Windows Live Mail POP. Any other suggestions?

That's probably not an antivirus issue. Looks more like you are running
into a port 25 block. When you got that error message, was your Internet
connection being obtained from RoadRunner?
If not, what you experienced is normal. As a general rule, the owner of
the SMTP server you are using must be the same as the entity providing
your Internet connection at that moment. For more on this issue see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

Let us know your circumstances (using a laptop away from home?),
and we will give you the appropriate workarounds.

I'm assuming that means RoadRunner was supplying your Internet
connection at the time. In that case, it is not a port 25 block.

Also, your settings appear to be in compliance with what your provider
specifies:
http://www.sc.rr.com/rrhelp/email.htm

The only remaining possibility is interference from your antivirus.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.

For the sake of continuity, when replying please quote the message you're responding to.

RE Can't Send Email: I use Norton. The problem started about a month ago in a pop Windows live account I hae and today on the Windows mail account.

Please do NOT reply to yourself. Reply to the person you are citing.

Did you do this as I previously mentioned?

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the
program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the
option arises.

I didn't think so.

1: Remove Norton via Add/Remove Programs.

2: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

3: Reinstall Norton. Do a Custom Installation and opt out of e-mail
scanning when it is offered.

4: Better yet, leave Norton and all its shortcomings off your machine and
use MSE (freeware) instead for more compatibility with Windows.

Call RR tech support. Have them check your modem strength,

do.>

Sorry, I am new to this forum. So having said all that, I still can't send pop through my Windows Live Mail either, which has nothing to do with RR. And, your email as show says invalid.

To avoid confusion, please start your own new thread instead of hijacking
this one that enough confusion of its own. Post your error message in its
entirety. Thank you.
