Hi,

My network at home is connected via a crossover cable. XP
machine to 98SE machine. I can't see the 98SE machine
from the XP machine. I can't ping the 98SE machine, but I
can ping the XP machine from 98SE machine. I also, would
like to share the printer connected to the XP machine.
How do I get these machines setup and running??

Thanks,

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers, which will make all
the right network settings and share XP's printer. On 98SE, go to
Start | Settings | Printers and add the printer as a network printer.

Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall on the
local area network connection.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying. I ran the network wizard on both
machines to set them up and it ran fine. I also, disabled
ICF on the XP machine, which is the host. When I go to my
Network Places I still only see the XP machine on the XP
machine and I still can't ping the 98SE machine. Any other
suggestions???

Thanks,

Hi Charlie,

Yes, on the 98SE machine, I have "File and Printer
sharing" setup. I am using the administrator account on
the XP machine. Does this have anything to do with it?? I
am lost...Would having a hub be any easier in getting
this done??

Thanks,

Delroy
