Can't see the Workgroup computers

I have just installed a new Dell 8400 with XP Media Center Edition. After
running the Network Wizard, my connections to internet are fine but I can't
see the other computers in my local home network (workgroup). I can ping the
other computers by ip address but not by name. Other computers on the
network see my new computer but not the share that I set up. Have tried
rebooting both the new computer and one of the others in the already
established network.
When I go to view Workgroup computers, the message I get says "Newyork is
not accessible. You may not have access to this network resource. ....".
BTW "Newyork" is the name of my workgroup.
