Very strange. Bought a new PC. Upgraded it to Win XPPro (so I can use it on
our LAN here at work). When I plug in my Sony Cybershot (DSC-P50_ camera, it
says "New Hardware Recognized", then "Sony DSC Ready to USe". But it does
not appear in My Computer.

(I have Windows XPPRO at home, and when I plug it in, I can see it in My
Computer. AND I always get the pop up window that asks me what I want to do
(Copy to my PC, Explore, etc).)

Now, here it get's more strange: When I log off, then log back in LOCALLY as
an administrator, I can see the camera in My Computer, AND I get the Pop up
asking me what I would like to do.

Any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like there may be a Group Policy in effect that is preventing you
from doing what you want with this device on the domain. Contact your
work systems administrator and discuss the issue.

Hello,

You state that you connect to a LAN at work. You might have some shared drives over the network
which have been assigned some drive letters. When you plug in your SONY camera, it aprobably appears
as a removable disk-drive and is probably being assigned a drive letter which has ALREADY been
assigned to a network drive.

Solution: After you plug in your camera, you might want to type in the next drive letter after the
local drives in the windows explorer address bar to navigate to the camera. Alternatively, you can
also configure the camera to appear as a camera device and not as a removable drive in Windows.
