Eric

I am a workstation in a workgroup. I can see the
internet through the ICS but am unable to see the other
computers in the workgroup (they can't see me either).
Any suggestions?

Make sure you are a member of the same workgroup as the
other computers

I am listed under the workgroup on other workstations.
If I try to get the properties form the other workstation
about this computer it gives an error that says "The
server xxxxx could not be found on the network"

If I try to view workgroup computers from this machine I
get an error that says "workgroup is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network resource.
contact the administrator of the server to find out if
you have access permissions"

Install NetBEUI. It is good for local sharing and use
TCP/IP for the Internet.

NetBEUI is also fast.

What is NetBEUI?

NetBEUI was good for older operating systems (Win 95 used it). Newer
operating systems default to NetBIOS over TCP/IP (aka NBT). Use NBT
unless you are connected to the internet without a router.

Your problem is most likely a software firewall blocking file sharing.
Disable ICF, and un install everything else, unless you can configure
your firewall. To configure a third party firewall, open the
following ports for traffic from trusted computers:
TCP 139, 445; UDP 137, 138, 445

How are you accessing the internet? Thru a LAN, or directly thru a
dialup?

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
