Can't See Menus in HP Printer Software

My system crashed I have been rebuilding it. I am at the point of setting
up the printer (HP psc 2210 all-in-one) and I have followed the directions
originally provided. It installed fine and works. The problem is with a
couple of pieces of software came with it, such as HP Director and HP
scanning, you cannot see the menus or any words. You can float around and
tell that they are there, you just cannot see them. I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling and changing various display settings... HELP.

I think this is a display problem -- I noticed somethng similar on a
friend's PC with an LCD monitor, some parts of a printer info panel
were invisible --after fiddling with the brightness and contrast they
were visible (they were grey; dark or bright colours were fine).

Follow up... For anyone else who runs into this problem. Installing IE
service pack 1 will correct this problem. I am not sure why they tied
their software menus to IE, but it does solve the problem... go figure.
