Can't see images. Just { EMBED Word.Picture.8 }

I can't see images, tables or forms in my Microsoft Word, but my coworkers can.
It only shows:
{ EMBED Word.Picture.8 }
{ EMBED Excel.Sheet.8 }
{ FORMCHECKBOX }

any suggestions?

Hit alt-F9 to see field results instead of Field Codes

I have the same problem on my laptop where I can only view the images in
preview mode. I take out the toggle fields as suggested but it still shows a
blank box. Please help.
