Can't search Outlook 2003

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and Outlook 2003 sp3

My contacts are
in my contacts folder, but when I search for them, say from an email or the
search addresss book window in Outllook they are nowhere to be found. How
can I correct this problem, please? I already ran a detect and repair,

You neglected to include which search method you are using and exactly what
happens when you try.
