Can't search from address bar

I can not search from the address bar. Some ad ware got
in and changed the settings and none of the fixes listed,
including registry changes , will work. When I type a
search word I get "page cannot be displayed" and in the
address bar I get http:///%whatever.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Got my own answer. Downloads.com, ad aware 6. I ran it
and it found and removed all the crap. Everything works
now.
