can't search from address bar

I also suddenly lost ability to search from address bar.
Options under IE tools are properly set. Our ISP recently
changed - could they have altered winsock or something in
registry?

The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
