can't save as html in notepad

Hey all,
My crash course in Html hasn't been able to start off yet since I can't even 'Save As' Html from Notepad - all that shows up for options are txt and all files - no good
Also, what 'type' should I be saving as (ex. ASDI/Unicode...
Thanks so much!
