Can't Rotate Across Computers - Read-Only Problem?

I have 2 Windows XP Professional computers networked together. Let's call
them A and B. On B I have all of my photos stored. I went to the parent
folder and ensured that Read-Only was turned OFF on all folders & files.

Yet when I'm on A, viewing the photos in Thumbnail mode in Windows Explorer,
I cannot rotate them (using the feature available when one right-clicks on an
image). When I go to B I can do this without issue.

Why would this occur?

Hi,

Check the file sharing and security TAB's on your folder (right click
Properties).
If the security tab is not there, go to Explorer / Tools / Folder Options
and select the View tab.
Then un-tick the last entry (Use simple file sharing). Now you really can
see all the security and permissions settings!

Do this on both computers.
Here is some more info: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040
Good luck,

Stop using those paper phone message pads
make the computer work for you.

I appreciate the suggestion. I did as you instructed and am positive that
the files & folders in question give Everyone Full Control to do everything.
Yet I can still not rotate an image from the other computer.

Though I can open it up, change it, and save it again. So perhaps Read-Only
is not the issue.

Hi,

Did you check the Share permissions as well as security permissions?
