can't right click or download, chinese charaters in status bar

I can't right click when using IE browser. It will not bring up the right click menu. Right clicking does nothing. Also, the computer will not download anything from IE. There are oriental characters showing in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. The same characters show up in the history sidebar and in the favorites side bar. The About screen under the help menu is corrupt and just shows y's with twos little dots over them. Can't add items to favorites.

you got a virus or trojan, get a scan or two.
