Can't return to ME from XP

My HP Pavilion came with Windows ME installed. I upgraded
to XP Home ED.

The software instructions said I could go back to ME if I
didn't reformat the hard

drive and change from FAT32 file system to NT file
system. Now I have a half

aborted version of XP and I can't go back to ME. My
original OEM disks won't work.

Is it possible to go back and undo this XP abortion?

Use your HP restore disks if you still have them. That will restore
the HP back to the way it was shipped from the factory with ME.
You'll lose all your data that you had with ME and any programs that
you installed in addition to the HP bundled software.
