can't restore .pst file

I backed up my perfectly running .pst file to a DVD, wiped out my system and
reloaded Outlook then restored my .pst file. When I try opening or importing
it with Outlook, it says, "blah blah blah is not a personal folders file".
The file is not "read only" and the Inbox repair tool can't open it either.
The files is only 18MB. Any other suggestions?

through step to step about setup and configuration on Table?

You can try the following. Do importing manually. It works for me all the time when I move the pst files from system to system.

Locate the pst files on your system. They should be C:\Document and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

Open the Outlook file and highlight all the files in there and select Delete. DO NOT REMOVE from the Recycle Bin until the following works

Now take your saved pst files from your saved media and insert in there in place of the deleted ones. Once done Open Outlook and take a look.

If it did not work for you then remove those and restore originals from the Recycle Bin.

It will work if those *.pst files that you saved are not in Read Only mode or not corrupted. Post back with results.

The .PST file can't be read-only -- did you copy it back to your hard drive
and make sure it's not marked read-only before trying to open it? Also, make
sure to open it via File | Open | Outlook Data File -- don't import from it
as importing tends to lose data (and is totally unnecessary since .PST is
Outlook's native file format).
