can't remove zonealarm

T

I have XP home edition and installed zonealarm. I have forgotten the password
and now can not uninstall the program. I have tried to go into
windows>internet logs and delete the suggested items but get the error that I
can't because the program is inuse or locked. I tried in safe mode. When I
try to ininstall i am asked fo rthe password again. I am stuck and can't
figure it out. The website only has the suggestions on removing the internet
logs first then uninstalling the program.
Thanks,
John

db

perhaps, you can download
and install a program called
siw.

it can scan the registry and
provide product keys and
passwords too.

You don't need the serial number to uninstall ZoneAlarm. Disable
it from auto-starting then shut it down, restart, and uninstall it.

I agree with db- download and install one of the gazillion password finders,
run it, and find out what the password is. Enter it, then disable password
protection, then uninstall Zone Alarm.

He's not looking for the S/N; he's forgotten the password :)

I've been using ZA for a long time, and never even realized
there _is_ the option of setting a password so that noone
else can alter my security settings. I agree with another
poster, this problem should be addressed in the ZA forum.
This has to be a problem others have encountered, and my
experience in the forum is that help is forthcoming on
issues like this. Some direct interaction with the ZA
people may turn out to be required.
