Can anyone please help! I have a 3 year old laptop that
came with Microsoft ME on it (first mistake). I upgraded
to XP Pro a few months back. Had a problem one day, the
OS wouldn't start, and somehow I was able to open the
computer using ME. All of my old ME files and programs
were on there. Now my hard drive is full and I have old
programs that will not uninstall including MS Works and
Money. I've tried using Norton Clean Sweep and still
can't remove some. Can't even find the ME stuff now, but
it's obviously still on there. Does anyone know how I
can get rid of old programs and the old OS without re-
formating my entire hard drive?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I know other
people with the same problem, so I know it's not just my
machine.

Thank you.

IMHO
Doing OS upgrades from one OS to another is almost always
the culprit for workstation frustrations. It really sounds
like it's time for you to think about a re-install from
scratch. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself
have someone knowledgeable do it with you (or hire someone)
- Save all the things you want to keep, itmes you've
created, downloaded, etc.
- Make sure you have all of the hardware drivers for your
machine in hand (video, network, etc)
- FDISK, FORMAT, RE-INSTALL, Install drivers, Install OS
Updates, re-install your applications (Works, etc), copy
your data back.
- After your sure you love that way it's setup- buy a copy
of Ghost or PowerQuest Drive Image pro and Backup your
whole system so you can have a solid base image in case
you every have a harddrive crash or system failer.

Hope this helps,
