Can't receive messages in Outlook2003 SP1

Running XP Media and McAfee. Can send messages with no problem. When trying
to receive, get error – Task ‘Verizon Online – Receiving’ reported error
(0x800CCC90): “Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal
error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your service
administrator or Internet service provider.†Contacted Verizon and settings
looked good to them.

If I disable McAfee Firewall and Internet Security, I can receive. After
enabling McAfee again, I can receive ok until restarting computer then have
same problem. I can’t find anything in McAfee that helps. Any Suggestions?

Thanks, Paul

Take a look in the privacy options, I had a load of trouble with Outlook Web
Access using McAfee. also, check that Outlook is fully allowed in the
Firewall.

Outlook is fully allowed.

By privacy options, I assume that you mean in Outlook. Are you talking about
the active-x, etc. settings? Did you find a write-up or did you just play
around until you got it to work? What settings did you arrve at?

Thanks for your previous response. I was outside cutting grass, etc.,. so
didn't get back sooner.

Suggestions?

Yes. I had this same problem and it turned out to be VirusScan's
"Scan email and attachments" option. I contacted McAfee and they sent
me a patch to MCVSESCN.EXE.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I called McAfee and they had me do end
process in task manager for MCVSESCN.EXE. I was then able to receive e-mail.
McAfee sent a patch which corrected the problem. "Mike58", Thanks for the
lead. It worked.
Thanks, Paul

Dear Friends,

I am new to the use of Microsoft Outlook.
I can't send or recieve message through it. Some body asked to get the
incoming Mail and Outgoing Mail information from the Internet Service
provider. My ISP is nocharge.com. There is no way of getting them because the
phone number they posted on the web doesn't work. How can I get the
information? And then what are the steps I have to take in order to draw my
yahoo mail to my Outlook?

Your help is so much appreciate.

From what I can see on nocharge.com's web site, it offers only web-based
mail. It does not provide POP/SMTP service. Not only can you not use
Outlook, you can't use Outlook Express, Netscape Communicator, Mozilla
Thunderbird, Eudora, or any other email client. If you want POP access to
mail, you'll need to buty their NCPlus.net service for $10 per month. That
service has the POP and SMTP server names right on their home page.

I don't see why this was so hard to determine.

Thank you so much for your information.
So, currently I shouldn't think of using the OutLook.

Did you disable email scanning? 90% of the time it’s a problem with the 3rd
party scanner that sits between outlook and the mail server.
