Can't receive mail - suddenly

J

Julie LeBlanc

Account: 'JuJuBear', Server: 'pop-server.tampabay.rr.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Above is the what WinMail tells me. I have 5 accounts and three of them are
not working all of a sudden. They have been working fine until now. I have
a Gateway.

Any advice is appreciated.

Also, I am using Kaspersky anti-virus and have had it for nearly 1 month.

"An error occurred while attempting to display the Windows Live ID Sign-In
dialog."

I'm now receiving the above message.

Then it says "Your post will not have Communities features unless you are
signed in to Microsoft Communities. Would you like to sign in now? I click
Yes and the top message appears again.

The above is my new error message on this account, but my other two accounts
are still giving the original message. Two out of five of my accounts are
still not having any problems.

Turn the Communities feature off. It is very flaky.
Tools > Options > uncheck "Use newsgroup message rating features".

Ignore this message.
It is an intermittent problem.
Just click no.
No big deal.
Or turn it off: Tools > Accounts > Highlight Microsoft Communities,
Properties, Windows Live ID tab, check Never use Communities...

No, it is not turned off. I turned it off. Then I opened WinMail and had
the same problem. So I turned mail scanning back on.

Do I need to restart after turning mail scanning off? Is there more to it
then just turning it off?

I was unable to access my e-mail through the internet too. So, I called my
provider and they had an automated message saying they are aware that many
customers are unable to access their email. They are working on the
problem.

Thank you,
Julie

That last error message you posted did sound like their mail server
was having problems. I get that same non-specific error when one
of the mail servers I use is not responding.

Click "No" on the second window.
The only way I've found to fix this is to close and reopen WinMail.

0x800CCC17 USER_CANCEL User canceled operation.
Either the server or WinMail thinks you canceled the operation.
Turn off email scanning in Kaspersky. It provides no added protection and
will cause delays which may (or may not) cause problems.
