I have XP and my wife has Vista. I can't receive email but she can and we're
set up the same. I did until 12/15/08 but don't know why it changed. I hate
Bellsouth/Yahoo and need outlook now. thanks for your help!

Define "can't receive". What happens when you try? What version of
Outlook?

Thank you! I have Outlook 2007. I have it set up just like my wife's Vista
laptop but it doesn't get/receive any emails. It got them up to December '08
and then stopped for some reason. When I hit the buttons at the top of the
screen it doesn't get anything either. It sends them just fine. When I do
setup it sends the message OK but it doesn't receive it, although my Internet
Explorer site gets it fine.

Do you get any error on the Errors tab of the Send/Receive Status dialogue
when you click Send/Receive? What does the diagnostics log say happens
during the send/receive?

When I hit send/receive it has two things that run quickly and the window
goes away, with no errors. My inbox is now empty and everything from the
past is in unread mail.

I copied Office 12 folder from my wife's notebook and put it on my PC, but it
didn't help. Do I need to copy something else? O12 is where Outlook.exe is
so I thought that would work but no...

You can't do that. You need to INSTALL from the CD. IF your version allows
you to.
