Can't print

I use windows xp, internet explorer 6, I can't print. I
can print a test page after I re-installed hp 550c printer
so I know the driver is ok. I can print from microsoft
outlook & from Word. If I try to print from web page it
shows its printing from print mgr but it isn't. I did
notice if I go into print preview, it will show 400 & some
odd pages instead of the one I am trying to print. All the
pages will have a "p" on top of page, then maybe a word
like "hi," in the middle. Sometimes it will just show a
very small box in the middle of the page. I have NO CLUE
where all those pages are coming from in the print
preview. I'll reboot my computer, go back into the print
preview and all the pages are still there... what the heck
is up with this? Its driving me NUTS!!!!! Any advice would
be very greatly appreciated.
Thank you

The Office applications use a different "Print dialog" than IE 6, which can
lead to differences in print behaviour. The symptoms you describe are
commonly associated with using an incorrect printer driver. I see from your
note that printing from Word and the "Test Page" are OK, but because IE (and
some other applications) do print management differently than Word, there
may be an issue with the printer(s) or printer driver(s) that does not
impact Word.

If you haven't already, in Internet Explorer, click File, Print. Do other
printers, besides the HP DeskJet 550c show up in this dialog? If so, make
sure that the HP DeskJet 550c is selected, then click Print . Does this
help?

If not, perhaps it's time to remove the existing printer drivers and start
over. See the information and instructions at
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm. Windows XP comes
with a printer driver for the HP DeskJet 550C - use that driver, not one
from any floppies that came with the printer.
