I just installed a network card and reinstalled a clean installation of XP
Pro. I can ping the other two computers on the network and the router. I
also get an IP for my network card when I type ipconfig at comand prompt.
When I ping the network card IP I get timed out. ??? I can't figure this
out. I replaced the network card once to see if it was bad. I replaced it
with another of the same brand and type. Help if you can. Thanks.

The most likely reason that a computer can't ping the IP address of
its own network card is that an improperly configured firewall
program is interfering.
