I'm trying to hook up a computer to our P2P network, and
want it to use DHCP. The network properties says its
enabled, senses the cable is plugged in, but it is always
coming up with an Automatic Private Address. How do I get
around this.
I dleted the winsock and winsock2 registry keys and
uninstalled the NIC drivers, but it keeps coming back to
APA.

There could be a problem with the NIC, cable, or hub/switch port. For
more possibilities, see:

You do have a DHCP server running right?

If so, I would manually assign a valid address to the failing computer (one
in the range of DHCP addresses, but far removed in the range so it isn't
likely to be given out while you are testing). I would then test
connectivity. If it works great this way you have eliminated all the bs with
bad adapter, cable, etc, etc. Assuming that connects, some additional
information here about your dHCP server would help.
