I use Anti virus from Norton 2003 and i cant do system
restor. before instaling the antivirus i was able to do
that. what should i do?

I dont want to give up the anti virus. is there a way to
stop its operationfor the restoring period? any
suggestions?

How do you know Norton Anti-Virus is preventing you using System Restore?
Have you tried temporarily disabling auto protection? Are you using other
utilities from Norton or is it just Norton Anti-Virus? Any history of virus
infection?

Is the problem on a single drive or a partitioned drive? If it is on a
partitioned drive is it on one partition or more than one partition that you
see a problem?

Have you tried using System Restore in Safe Mode? You could have a problem
in your System Volume Information Folder which you are blaming on NAV!

Why do you need to use System Restore to restore from an earlier restore
point?

This Article is worth reading although it does not provide an answer to your
problem:

How clean is your system with regard to malware? Do you have a Firewall
installed? What Firewall are you using?
