I want to raise this problem again (7/14/2005) because it is still unsolved,
as the following:

(7/14/2005):
I can't open the STATUS of my network connection and also with check on
"show icon in notification area when connected" will not show the icon (at
the taskbar) when connected. The network connection itself is working okay.
OS WinXP-HE Sp2.
Thanks for someone who can help. /ParlinS
Additional info:
1. Other NIC and dial-up modem have the same problem (I use this PC as a
"Server" for home network)
2. "Safely Remove Icon" also will not show up all the time
3. I have used this PC for a long time without problem . It is just started
a few months ago

I hope those experts on WindowsXP can really help me. Thanks.

Do you have any APC battery backup programs installed on your PC by any
chance? If so, disable them in services. Also check what's running and NOT
essential for XP. Good chance one of these services is causing your problem

I do not have APC battery backup program installed. I have opened "Admin
Tools" > Services; but I really do not understand what service is running and
not essential for XP. Can you guide me how to make this check? Thank you.
