Can't Open Solution (.sln) Files

Derek

I have VS.Net 2003 and I can't open any .sln files (even if they are from a
new 2003 project that I just created) - When I click on the .sln file,
VS.Net pops up saying that: "The selected file is not a valid visual studio
solution file"

I upgraded from 2002 to 2003 quite a while ago, but never addressed the
problem.

Thanks for any info you can provide
Derek

Do you have both 2002 and 2003 installed on your PC? If you installed 2003
thinking you were upgrading, you do. They are separate products installed in
different directories. If you do have both installed, it's possible you are
using 2002 when you think you're using 2003. The reason I'm bringing this up
is that the error message you quote is exactly the same as the one you get
when attempting to open a solution created in 2003, in 2002.
Check in your Program Files directory. Do you have both a Microsoft Visual
Studio .NET and a Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 directory? Are they both
1 Gig +? If so, both versions are installed. When you start Visual Studio,
select Help -> About to see which version is actually running.
If my supposition is unrelated to your situation, pardon the interruption
:)
