Can't open "Printing Preferences"

Guest

I recently installed an HP psc 1210 all-in-one printer on my Vista machine
and I cannot open the "Printing Preferences" option. A window flashed
briefly then disappears. I have tried reinstalling and have the same
problem. And yes, I am logged in as Administrator.

Thanks

It's a problem where HP will not write updated drivers for their own product
because it's just too old for them to support further. Writing updated
drivers takes time and funds to pay the developers. At some point in time,
you have to face up to the fact that HP will not continue to pour money into
a product that has only a tiny percentage of the original models still in
circulation and working. At that point, it's time to donate it to charity
or put it on eBay and get a new and updated printer. There are still plenty
of folks running XP and 9x systems. They would love to get their hands on
it. You however upgraded to Vista with all the consequences of it.

Yes, you have the newest operating system and its advantages... but there
are some disadvantages as you now discover. Keeping your hardware and
software up to date includes ALL the peripherals, not only the basic tower
of the PC and the O/S. If you want the latest and greatest O/S, then be
prepared to spend a bit more money and upgrade the peripherals as well.

Hello Ude,

This is a vista newsgroup and what I mentioned was meant only for vista.
Therefore, I don't suppose it is rubbish now, is it? And if you read the
article, you would have known that it is about printer drivers and vista.
However, I do apologize for not specifically mentioning that this problem
only occurs in Vista in the post, so I'm sorry if that caused you any
inconvenience.
