Can't open .pdf file attachments

When I attempt to open .pdf attachments, I get the following:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel.

I have Adobe Reader 9. Don't know where to go to Set Associations?

"Start" - "Default Programs" - "Associate a file type with a program"
highlight .pdf
click on "Change program"
select Adobe Reader/Acrobat/etc.

right-click on a .pdf file, select "Open with"
and go find the Adobe .exe
