Hi

I have saved an mail from my inbox in a path on my disk

When I later opens it, it opens fine the first time only. A second attempt
to open the msg file is denied with the error "Can't open file: filename The
file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open
in another program." The problem goes away when Outlook is closed and
reopened. Then it is again possible to open the file, but only once.

I have encountered this problem as well. I have searched high and low for an
answer and am desperate for a resolution.

If Outlook is repeatedly failing to open your MSG files, it usually means the files are corrupted, created from a different Outlook version, or not associated properly with Outlook. A simple workaround is to convert the MSG files into a more accessible format. For this, you can try GainTools MSG Converter. It allows you to convert MSG files into PST, EML, MBOX, or other readable formats without depending on Outlook. The tool preserves all email elements, including attachments and formatting, so you don’t lose any data. You can also use its free demo version to check whether your MSG files open correctly after conversion.
