Using MS Access 2002 on XP Home OS. Made a change to a field property in one
of the forms, then Access closed. The .ldb is present, when I delete that
then attempt to open the .mdb again, it opens for a few seconds then closes
again.

Have tried everything to get it open. Any ideas appreciated. Its my
business db!!!

First thing to try is to hold down the Shift key while you're opening
the database. This will bypass any startup code (which I presume is
causing the problem).

The database may also be corrupt, in which case Marco's suggestion may
be the way to go. Also check out the suggestions and links at

It's a pity to learn this lesson in such a hard way... but you now
know why *BACKUPS ARE ESSENTIAL*.

John, many thanks. The shift key worked. My db is working fine. So backup
is important, lesson learnt. ;-) Dan.
