I've been using IE6 on win98se for some time without problems, apart from
the last week or so when sometimes the page I'm linking to seems forever to
load up . The problem now is that IE6 will not even open up.Double clicking
the IE icon on desktop only results in it going to the task bar minimised.
When this is clicked in order to open the browser, it just disappears and
nothing opens.
I've reloaded windows and tried to repair IE using the dialogue box
"repair/modify". I've deleted the IE folder off the HDD and re installed it,
and I have been into the registry throwing away things that refer to IE all
without success. There must be something I have not done.
TIA for any help with this one.

Hi Mark try this

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced
uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions." That
should allow IE to open.

Hi, still no luck.

Hi Mark try this

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced
uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions." That
should allow IE to open.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

All sorted now.
Don't ask me how it happend but IE was being killed off in my pop up
killer - noads.
Only when I threw out all the killed off pop ups did it return as normal.
