Can't open files in Office programs

But I can open them from other places like My Documents. Can't save either.
Get message "not responding". This means I can't attach files to emails
either. Tried System restore but that failed too. Tried reinstalling Office
-no good either.

Check the MS Office ng's for the KB fix, apparently it is caused by the
recent update
