cant open file virus alert

I have an excel file i cannot open anymore as it says my virus scanner has
detected a virus. I know the file is fine, and this happened after i deleted
my antivirus program,i was having too many problems with norton. How do i
get my excel file to open,as this is an important file??

Can you not open it on another machine?

If not, try opening Excel in Safe mode as the virus scanner may have added
an add-in that is loading with Excel.

Start>Run>Type excel.exe /safe
