can't open file: extend.dat

Just upgraded to Outlook 2003 and every time I open it I get an error -
'can't open file: extend.dat'

Can anyone help please?

You can use Windows Explorer to rename or delete that file. (Outlook will
rebuild it)
 
Thanks - that seems to have done the trick - out of interest what is that
file for?

It is one of the files used to track addins.
