cant open attachments

I have been unable to open any attachments in my Windows Mail over the past 2
days. Things such as the little movie clip forwards etc from friends. This
problem just started, all was working well up until 2 days ago. I get no
error message or anything, it just wont open. Please help. Thank you.

Hi Lardaav, it's commom to happen in outlook express, to solve this problem
go to "tools", "security" and unmark the follow box: "do not allow
attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"
You can unmark also: "block images and other external content in HTML
e-mail" only if you want display the images that cames in your e-mails.

That problem can be caused over time by an incompatible antivirus.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and Norton
security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

same problems here with not being able to open attachments. We have no
antivirus programs installed and I have unblocked the firewall for Windows
Mail. I see a lot of "fixes" for OE. but not Windoews mail. ANy other
suggestions??

Give us more details. When you save the attachment, can you open
the saved document outside of Windows Mail? Which type of
attachments are giving you problems, .DOC, .XLS, .PPS, etc.?

attachment....." there was an error trying to save one or more of the
attachments. Please check for free disk space and try again." I cannot open
..doc, .wmv, .css, .jpg, .eml, .xls, .pps and more.

Yes, I got your replies, but I tend to be sleeping during the night. ;-)
We responders are volunteers, so our hours here are irregular.

The error message you are getting is typically caused by interference
from an antivirus, but since you currently don't have an antivirus...
Did you have either McAfee or Norton AV installed previously?
Those don't uninstall cleanly, and you may want to get the special
removal utility from their respective websites.

The only other suggestion I have is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
