I have an external USB hard drive and am trying to move files around on the
drive. When attempting it states I need administrator permission to do it, I
click continue, it tries to do it, but doesn't ever do anything.
If I go into properties it lists everything on the drive as read only. I go
into the security settings for the local disk and it states my user (Users
(Mark-Laptop\Users)) has limited permissions rather than full control. I try
and click "edit" to change the permissions and I get the following message:
Can't open access control editor. The service did not respond to the start
or control request in a timely fashion.
I did use this hard drive on Windows XP before the new computer if that
makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
