Can't migrate OL2000 data to OL2003

Hi, I am trying to get OL2000 data, (email, calendar, contacts, etc) from an
Exchange 5.5 based email account to an OL2003/Exchange 2003 based email
account. So far I have tried creating a new PST from the OL2000 account
copying the file to the OL2003 PC and opening it. I have also tried
exporting the data from the OL2000 PC to a PST file, copying and importing.
In every case I have tried, the PC with OL2003 spits back the Outlook message
"The file <filename> is not a personal folders file." Each of the files I
have tried has come back clean using the OL2000 version of SCANPST.

Is what I'm doing possible? What am I doing wrong? How can I get around
this? Thanks.

Make sure the file is not marked read-only...

Thanks for the reply Jocelyn. After searching the MS KB, the Web, and
reading what seemed to be dozens of Discussion group posts, I was
unsuccessful at getting the PST files to open. I did also ensure that the
files were not marked READ-ONLY.

After a few hours of "playing", I did find a work-around that I may use as I
only have a few PST files to move. I first created an empty PST file in
OL2003 using the Outlook 97-2002 format. I copied the empty file to a OL2000
pc, opened it and copied all of the OL2000 data into it. Then copied the
file back to the OL2003 pc and re-opened it there, and copied all the data
into the existing OL2003 PST.

I don't know why the other method wasn't working, but this method seems to.

Thanks again, Kirk.
