Both machines have all the updates.

When I try to map the shares via Windows Explorer, tool, Map, I get an
error message

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

If I open a DOS windows, I get the following:

C:\WINDOWS>net use y: \\xptest\transfer /user:administrator
/persistent:yes password

System error 59 has occurred.

An unexpected network error occurred.

I have tried with the free Zone Alarms and without Zone Alarms. I get
the same error messages.

I have assigned a fixed IP address to each machine. Each machine has
same WINS and DNS numbers.

I can't map 2 way but a can map 1 way. I need to map bi-directional.

What is wrong?

How do I correct this?

thanks

I have correct the problem. I thought that I had a created a sharem it
seems that the share that I create didn't stick. I create a new share
and all is in harmony now.
