Can't log in to XP

After trying to install a Lynksys product my computer hung up and now I can't
get in to XP. When I start the computer I get a black scren with a little
login box that comes up with the user id as "default". It wants a password
that I obviously don't have. Last time I started it it beeped twice which it
has never done before. Any help would be apprieciated.

Were you inside the PC installing hardware or was it a software install that
caused this? If the latter, give Lynksys support a call.

You failed to mention what product you installed, that would help also...
But the logon screen you state seems to be a default screen for Linksys so I
would use the Username as blank (empty) and the password as Admin. See if
that gets you through

It's very unlikely that the OP is seeing a login box for Linksys since he
can't get into Windows.

This sounds like a request for a BIOS password. It also sounds like you may
have hardware failure.

1. If you or someone in your household never set a BIOS password, try just
hitting the Enter key (for a blank password). If that doesn't help and this
is a desktop computer, pull the motherboard battery to reset the
motherboard back to factory condition and clear the request for the
password. Some motherboards can reset to defaults by changing jumper
settings, so refer to your motherboard manual.

2. If the (unnamed) Linksys product is still connected to your computer
(such as a USB wireless network adapter), unplug it before turning on your
computer and see if it will go into Windows.

More details about your computer (make/model/type/approx. age, etc.) and the
"Linksys product" will get you more focused answers.

That is a clear indication that OP has not gotten into Windows! Aren't
you familar with BIOS beep codes?

Yes, an clearly was stated "The Last Time" which means that they had gotten
there without beeps prior... If one is booting from another device Whats
Windows got to do with it???
