Can't load direct X 9.0b

Guest

I am trying to load direct x 9.0b on a HP pavillion 780n with 64 mg NVIDA geforce 2 MX/MX 400. I get an error message (has not passed Windows Logo Testing) and will not continue to load. The exisiting driver is not signed and have checked Cryptographic Services and they are running. How do I get around this problem. Thanks.

Hi Curt,
--
You possibly disabled the Cryptography service by "tweaking"
XP using well intended but bad advice from a site or magazine.

1. Click Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
Scroll down to "Cryptographic Services", double click it and
change Startup type to: Automatic and click the "Start" button.

2. If the problem persists, go to c:\windows\system32 and rename
the catroot2 directory to catrootold. Catroot2 might be too full.

3. Save and then Open the "DX9 Logo Error" patch on Line 189
for WinXP at: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

4. The resolution at the bottom of this page worked for some users:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813442

5. Repairing Windows is our final option. Boot from your Windows
CD (you may have to press F12 while starting up, or change the
bootup order in your BIOS) and then follow the instructions at:
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Good luck! :)

Hi Jim,

Since you've checked your Cryptographic services already,
let's try the solutions / workarounds for that error. :)

1. Done

5. Repairing Windows is our final option. Boot from your Windows
CD (you may have to press F12 while starting up, or change the
