Can't launch Excel

As I double click on an .xls worksheet or launch Excel in
my Office 2002XP from the Start/All Programs.. I get a
dialogue box asking me to Install a Windows XP PRO module
that is on the XP PRO CD-ROM..

I have Win XP HOME OEM.. and still see this error after
reboot/ virus scan and registry cleanup..does same thing
under different login names..

any thoughts on how to try to resolve this please? I use
a PCCillin 2003 with updates daily / WinXP Home SP1 with
all current updates, and AdAware scan all the time, with
diskcleanup and Check Disk .. and Registry Clean.. all
looks and runs Ok

Have you tried *detect and repair* in add/remove programs when clicking on Office?

For better advice may I reccomend visiting an office newsgroup? Open your newsreader and search for them.

Jeff,
I had tried Posting the same query in the Excel
Newsgroup.. no response..
However, i had not known of this "Repair" option.. ran
it .. it removed my Spam Inspector program from Outlook,
and did the repair.. after that, Excel started working
fine.. and then I repaired the Spam Inspector.. now it is
Ok too.. so I thank you very much !..
Regards... JimS

There is an unfortunate bug in the file protection system that goes
asking for a Pro CD on a Home system. What usually works is to put the
Home CD in the drive *first*, and exit the autorun, before doing
whatever results in the need for the CD. It will usually then find what
it wants quite happily
