Can't join Domain...

I've got a laptop that I can't get to join my domain. I'm running Win2k
Server & Win2k Pro on the laptop.
Whenever I try to join, I get the "Error occurred validating name...may be
caused by a DNS lookup problem"
A few things that don't seem to add up are:
1) I'm getting an IP address from my DHCP server, including an internal DNS
server & WINS server.
2) I can check the internal DNS server & the laptop is registered with the
DNS server.
3) I can connect to the internet fine.
4) I can't ping anything internal, by address times out & by name gives me
"unknown host" message.
5) I have no problem pinging anything outside by name or IP address.
What am I missing here?!?!

Check to make sure that you do not have a software firewall, tcp/ip
filtering, or ipsec policy on your domain controller that is blocking
access. Also if you have a software firewall or "protection software" on
that computer, disable it at least temporally assuming you have other
firewall protection from the internet. Use ipconfig /all to make sure that
the computer is on the same network as the other computers. In a typical
class C network, the first three octets of the IP address would be the same
as in 192.168.0.xxx where xxx is the host address that needs to be different
on each computer. If still having problems boot into safe mode with
networking to see if that works and if it does you have a
service/application interfering with internal network access. The support
tool netdiag can also help check the health of networking on your
omputer. --- Steve
