cant install

i just bought all new parts and built a computer. when i went to install
windows xp it formated my drive and when loading the files to install, it
locks up. i tried to install several times and it allways stops at the same
spot. ive tried everything from new hard drive, new cd rom, new processor,
different copy of windows and i dont know what to do. it will install 95, 98,
2000, and ME but not anyform of xp what should i do?
 
Full, retail version of XP? Upgrade version of XP? OEM version of XP?

SATA harddrive or IDE?
